The National Hydro Power Producing Area Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), has toured many communities in Kebbi State, where the agency’s intervened in the areas of education, water and security as part of its management post-evaluation exercise.

Some of the local government areas visited by the commission where its various interventions were domiciled included Ngaski, Yauri, Shanga, Argungu, Augie, Gwandu, Aliero, Jega, Maiyama Kalgo, Bunza and Dandi.

While speaking to newsmen after the inspected facilitates, the Head of Press and Public Affairs of HYPPADEC, Mallam Nura Tanko Wakili, explained that the commission’s team, including Department of Planning, Research and Statistics was in the state under the instruction of the Managing Director, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq -Yelwa to assess the impact of the projects on the communities and the challenges facing the beneficiaries.

According to him, “the essence of this is for us to go round to see all the completed projects which have already been put in use in the respective communities where they were executed.

“We want to see the viability of these projects as well as to interact with the beneficiaries to know the efforts they are putting in place to ensure the maintenance of these projects for sustainability. “

Wakili also explained that the commission’s delegates who have visited various locations where three classrooms have been constructed, borehole sunk and solar streets light erected, were mandated to find out issues that might pose challenges to the host communities.

“And the feedback we are getting from the beneficiaries are quite encouraging because they were applauding the commission’s interventions, telling us that our efforts in education sector has continued to increase the enrolment of more girls and other pupils in schools.”
