Sokoto State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Jamilu Gosta, has cautioned protesters against vandalising properties in the state, saying the government is committed to the citizens’ welfare.

He condemned the destruction of properties belonging to the government, noting that the government was not opposed to peaceful protest.

Gosta, in a statement, said: “It’s very unfortunate for Sokoto State to have witnessed a menace of vandalising properties belongings to the government by some groups of youths in the name of protest.

“Protest is an expression of objection or disapproval of something by groups of citizens in a peaceful manner.

“In view of the above, I am calling on all our youths not to let their names be painted black by allowing themselves to join some unidentified personalities, who were in the protest to cause mayhem by destroying properties belonging to the government and individuals.
