In spite of her tight schedule as a banker, Toyin Alo still finds time to express her passion for music. A choir member of Holiness Chapel Ministry, Lagos, Alo recently released her debut album, Esteban Praise.
Speaking during the official presentation of the album held recently and which attracted dignitaries including highly revered men of God, Alo expressed joy that the launch was a dream come true for her.
“Despite my tight schedule as a banker, I vowed that I will never allow anything to bury my talent for music, and it was my heart desire to be waxing albums, singing praises to Almighty God. The title of my album, Esteban, means praise. It is a Spanish word, which means that one has been crowned with victory through praises. For over 30 years, I have been expressing my talent for music through singing praises to God, and will continue to do so as long as I live,” she declared.
While saying it is good to glorify God through praises, Alo, however, believes that fellow gospel artistes should strive to use the music as a platform to correct prevalent evils in the society.
“It is sad that the love of money or lure to make quick money is making many gospel musicians to sing to please the world, and not to glorify God or correct societal ills. I’m into gospel music not to make money but to fulfill a personal vow I made to my maker that I will use the voice He has given me to sing His praises, and also win souls for Christ,” she stressed.
Expressing appreciation to her husband and her church’s General Overseer, Rev. (Dr.) Adesina Sanyaolu, Alo described both men as the pillars of support that gave her all the motivation, which has brought her to the limelight today.
“I owed these two men a debt of gratitude. My husband and Rev. Sanyaolu played memorable roles in ensuring that my talent for singing was not buried. They gave me moral and psychological support, and I appreciated them for this,” the banker cum musician concluded.
