Nigerian singer and songwriter Ayra Starr proved her dominance by emerging as the country’s leading female artist in 2024.

The Grammy-nominated star was the number one female artist on all streaming platforms, as revealed by TurnTable in its annual end-of-the-year chart.

According to the music chart publication, the only chart in Nigeria aggregating streaming data, radio and TV airplay data, Ayra Starr’s performance across all platforms made her the most commercial female artist of 2024.

The previous year was stellar for the singer thanks to the release of her sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21’.

Featured in the album were Nigerian musical behemoths like Asake and Seyi Vibes, and international artists Giveon, Coco Jones, and Aniita.

‘The Year I Turned 21’ was the most streamed album of 2024 on Spotify with over 700 million streams.
