The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, at the weekend led federal civil servants in an invigorating walking and jogging session during the May edition of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) monthly exercise at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

According to a statement issued by Director of Information and Public Relations, Eno Olotu, as the Chief Guest Jogger and Captain, Walson-Jack stressed the critical role of physical fitness in boosting productivity and efficiency within the public service sector.

“Physical well-being is not just a personal goal but a public service necessity. As leaders, we must champion wellness not only in words but through active participation,” she stated.

Walson-Jack praised FEPSGA, under the leadership of Comrade Amaebi Aloku, for fostering unity and wellness through sports. She also commended Rivers State for its successful hosting of the 2024 Public Service Games and announced exciting plans for the 2025 Civil Service Week, which will include an International Civil Service Conference alongside a dedicated Keep-Fit Exercise.

In a goodwill message, the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Tunji Olaopa, lauded the Head of Service for her commitment to sustaining the fitness initiative, describing it as “a vital investment in the holistic well-being of civil servants.”

Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office, Patience Oyekunle, encouraged all public servants to prioritize their health, noting that “the monthly exercise is a key step toward building a more resilient and dynamic workforce.”

FEPSGA National President, Amaebi Aloku, expressed gratitude for the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation’s unwavering support of sports in the public sector, highlighting how her leadership has reinforced the importance of fitness in enhancing productivity across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

The event saw enthusiastic participation from Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Departments and Agencies, and numerous public servants, underscoring the Federal Civil Service’s commitment to cultivating a culture of health, unity, and productivity through regular physical activity.
