To energy magnate Jubril Adewale Tinubu, the word ‘impossible’ doesn’t exist in his dictionary. Right from his formative years, whenever he encounters a boulder on his path to success, he remains unfazed. Tinubu, fondly called JAT, is one of those rare creatures blessed with an uncommon survival instinct and with his eyes fixed on the future. Despite Nigeria’s oil sector known to be fraught with all imaginable risks, Tinubu, in 1994, plunged into it to grow the number of active players in the sector when he founded Ocean and Oil Group —which later morphed to Oando Plc. Today, Tinubu, who holds a Master’s degree in Law from the London School of Economics, has become adept over the years in managing the risks inherent in his line of business and has been maximizing the energy sector’s opportunities.
For the son of late Kafaru Oluwole and Iyalode Bintu Tinubu, who has impacted many lives positively, not a few were excited to celebrate with him on his birthday on Wednesday, 26 June when he turned 57. Interestingly, his birthday celebration this year was not an exception. As soon as the clock chimed on that day, his family, friends, business associates and far-flung fans poured effusive praises and wishing more good health and wealth on the man with the sobriquets of ‘King of African Oil’ on various traditional and social media platforms in appreciation of his humaneness and fellow-feeling.
Hats off to energy tycoon, Wale Tinubu at 57
