Hallmark University, Ijebu-Itele, Ogun State has frowned at gender-based violence and other related ills within the institution and the society at large. 

This was disclosed by the Abuja branch of Gender Mobile Team (GMT), led by its director, Omowunmi Ogunrotimi, a lawyer, who visited the campus recently.

Welcoming the guest at Council Chambers of the school, Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Segun Odunola said the varsity is mindful of all the issues bordering on gender violence. He however stated the institution deals with such related matters in line with the lay down rules and regulations.

Narrating his mission, Director, Gender Mobile Team, Barrister Omowunmi Ogunrotimi stated the presence of their organisation is to cement relationship with institution in order to proffer solution to the lingering gender-based violence in the society.

“ I’m happy for the warm welcome we received here today. And I’m glad the Vice Chancellor was able to recognized our presence and duties. There are many victims in the institution and in the society who have been suffering these and are unable to voice out. 

“Deeper roots of sexual harassment and consent enlightenment should be the main focus of institution, by doing this, I believe such attitude will reduce in the country. I’m glad I now know where the institution stands going by the words of the Vice Chancellor,” she stated.

Meanwhile, other management team in attendance, such as Acting Librarian, Faith Ohwofasa, Acting Director, Academic Planning Unit, Dr. Y.M Feruke Bello, Dean, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Professor O.B Adetola and host of others applauded the team visit and initiative.
