Guinness Nigeria Plc has commissioned a 1.1km road in Oregbeni, Edo State, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The newly constructed “Guinness Way” signifies the company’s dedication to creating positive change in its host communities.
“This road represents more than just construction,” said Managing Director Adebayo Alli. “It symbolizes our commitment to enhancing connectivity, accessibility, and opportunity for the residents of Oregbeni and the wider community.”
The road project initiated a decade ago, serves a vital purpose in mitigating erosion and ensuring safe passage for pedestrians and vehicles. Guinness Nigeria has also provided scholarships and job opportunities for the local community.
Edo State Commissioner for Physical Planning, Housing and Urban and Regional Development, Mrs Isoken Omo, commended the company’s efforts and appealed for further support, including bridge construction and erosion control measures.
Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Council Chairman Dr Eric Osayande requested assistance with transformers and erosion mitigation.
This project demonstrates Guinness Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development and its partnership with the community to improve infrastructure and quality of life.
