The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has declared the Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress(APC)Dr. Nadir Idris has winner of the governorship election which was concluded on April 15,2023.
Returning Officer for the Kebbi Governorship election,Professor Yusuf Saidu,who declared the results, disclosed that, after adding results from the first election which was conducted on the 18th March,2023 and supplementary poll of 15 April, APC candidate polled 409,225,while PDP candidate got 360,940.
According to him,” I Professor Yusuf Saidu,being Returning officer for the Governorship election of Kebbi held on 15 April,the election was contested for. And APC candidate, Dr. Idris Nasir, got 409,225 and PDP candidate, Aminu Bande polled 360,940.
“That Nasir Idris of APC, haven certified the requirements of law is hereby declare elected”_ he said.
Saidu also disclosed that the total valid votes in the election was 781,478,,Rejected votes were 19,082 while total cast votes stood at 800,560.
It could be recalled that, on 18 March,2023, while Governorship elections was conducted, APC candidate, Dr. Nadir Idris had scored 388,258 while his Arch rival from PDP, General Aminu Bande polled 342,980 with difference of 45,218 before election was declared inconclusive by Returning Officer, Professor Yusuf Saidu from Usmanu Danfodio University over cancellation of results in 142 polling units in 20 LGAs, out of 21 Local government areas in the state.
According to the results by INEC,APC candidate, Dr Nadir Idris had won previously in 18 Local government areas out of 21 LGAs while PDP candidate won in three LGAs.
In the supplementary elections conducted in 142 polling units across 20 local government areas,APC won 15 LGAs while PDP won in five LGAs.
Professor Yusuf Saidu, while declaring the supplementary results, declares that APC candidate polled 20,967 while PDP candidate got 17,960.
He added that,the total valid votes in the supplementary poll, was 39,244,rejected stood at 878 while total votes cast were 40,122 respectively.
