….Leadership of APC Urges Supporters to Maintain Civility, Decorum
From Abel Leonard, Lafia
In a significant development preceding the scheduled Supreme Court hearing on the Governorship electoral matter in Nasarawa State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have entered into a peace accord.
Daily Sun reports that the dispute involves Dr. David Ombugadu of the PDP against governor Abdullahi A Sule of the APC.
At a peace negotiation meeting held on Monday, the leadership of the ruling APC, in the presence of security agencies, embraced a peace deal with the opposition PDP.
In response, the APC issued a statement signed by Otaru Douglas urging its members and supporters to exhibit civility, maintain decorum, and refrain from making statements that could incite passion.
“On no account should any party member or supporter author or publish unauthorized statements. Statements on matters arising from court proceedings must be verified and edited by the media center of the party and the government house before publication.”
The statement emphasized the need for supporters to remain calm and avoid actions that could undermine the peace and stability of the state before, during, and after the Supreme Court judgment. The APC also urged adherence to security agencies’ instructions for maintaining law and order.
“There must be a peaceful Nasarawa State for all before neither APC nor PDP can govern her.”
The APC’s call for civility extended to the opposition PDP and its supporters, emphasizing the importance of honoring the peace treaty and observing civilities for the collective interest of peace in Nasarawa State.
“Let it be known to us all that there must be a peaceful Nasarawa State for all before neither APC nor PDP can govern her.”
