A non governmental organisation, Give The Nations (GTN) brought relief to Lagos residents at the weekend after it distributed over 25,000 food items as part of its global missions week initiative.
Partnering with the ‘Day of Salvation’ programme, the organisation extended its reach to underserved communities across Lagos, offering not only food but also financial aid to empower local families. The ongoing effort, which was launched earlier in the week, continues to make a significant impact on lives in Lagos and beyond.
Director of Give The Nations’ project, Precious Jefferson, expressed the organisation’s commitment to touching lives, saying, “The Missions Week kickstarted on Monday across other nations around the world. But, we partnered with the Day of Salvation for Thursday and Friday to accomplish our mission of reaching over 25,000 people with food distribution in Lagos. We distributed items like rice, garri, groundnut oil and even chickens across these communities.”
Emphasising the initiative’s broader goals, Jefferson added: “The Missions Week is one of Give The Nations’ key projects. Our aim is to set aside an entire week to distribute food items across the nations. Distributions have already started in Kenya and Pakistan, and Lagos will benefit next through the Day of Salvation programme on September 20. Our vision is to reach various nations and partner not only with local governments but also with global bodies to offer the much-needed support.”
Jefferson also highlighted the project’s additional initiatives, stating, “It’s not just about food relief. We also offered grants for young people and businesswomen, along with scholarships for students who have been shortlisted through the Day of Salvation programme.”
Lagos is one of the many global locations where the organisation is making an impact, with previous successful outreach in Kenya, Pakistan and other parts of the world.
