…Warns saboteurs to stop destroying her efforts

Jigawa Youth Forum has praised renowned philanthropist and founder of Nana Halima Empowerment Initiative, Dr (Amb) Halima Suleiman Zakari, for fulfilling her promises to the Federal Government College (FGC), Kiyawa and Jahun Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) Hospital, Jigawa State.

The group, in a statement by its President Abubakar Usman and Secretary General, Lukman Atiku, said Zakari is a promise keeper and urged her to continue the philanthropic gesture to the people of Jigawa State.

The statement said Zakari recently donated N50,000 each to support 85 young girls at the hospital, who are mostly victims of sexual abuse and under aged marriages and child birth.

According to Usman, she also donated N30 million to commence the renovation of both girls’ and boys’ dormitories at her alma mater, Federal Government College (FGC), Kiyawa, Jigawa State of which the total BOQ for the projects is about N130million.

The group also condemned in totality the destruction of ongoing renovation at the Federal Government College by some saboteurs. It urged the local and state governments to go after those responsible for the action.

It said “Some enemy of progress went to destroy the properties at the ongoing renovation at FGC, Kiyawa in an attempt to sabotage the effort of the philanthropist.

“We call on the State and Local Government, the Emirate Council, and the Kiyawa community to go after the perpetrators of this evil as a warning to other enemies of progress. It’s a discouragement for people who wish to give back to the people. This is unacceptable and against the development of Jigawa State.

“But we encourage her not to be discouraged as the people are behind her to support what her foundation is offering to the people, most especially the youths and women”
