Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has flagged-off the construction of a 35 kilometers road to link Gadar Gayan in Igabi Local Government with Gwaraji and Maraban Kujama in Chikun Local Government area of the State.
While touring the affected areas on Monday, Governor Sani also flagged-off the construction of six kilometers signboard, Juji to bypass road in Sabon Tasha area in Chikun LGA.
On the construction project at Gadar Gayan, the Governor said the road was one of the many projects lined up by his administration to bridge the gap between the rural and urban areas as well as make rural living more habitable.
The Governor who was accompanied by his Deputy, Dr Hadiza Balarabe and other government functionaries, added that apart the immediate employment opportunities the project would create to the benefiting communities, the 35 kilometers road would on completion after 12 months, linked the farming communities with markets
He said, “our government is determined to facilitate commerce and opportunities through the provision of good road networks.
“Igabi and Chikun local government areas have huge agricultural potentials, hence we are committed to giving our local farmers the necessary support required to boast their yields and market their produce.
“We want to bridge the gap between the rural and urban areas. We want to make rural life a pleasurable experience, that is why we are persuading our rural transformation agenda with zeal.
“During the construction of this road, there will be job opportunities for skill and unskill workers. When the road is completed, every town from the two local governments and communities along the route will be safer. Post-harvest loses by farmers will be drastically reduced
“It is now my honour and privilege to perform the ground breaking for the construction of the 35-kilometer road from Gadar Gayan through Gwaraji to Kujama junction, linking Igabi and Chikun Local Government Areas. I want to also thank everyone who have supported us from the beginning to this moment.”
At Sabon Tasha, Sani said his government was committed to fulfilling its campaign promises made to the people of the area, “to take government close to them and give every community a sense of belonging.”
In his welcome remarks, the Chairman, Igabi Local government Area, Hon. Jabir Khamis said the governor has demonstrated that, he loves the people of Igabi Local Government Area.
“We are very happy. We have now seen that the Governor belongs to the people of Igabi. He is not even one year in office yet, but, he has visited this LGA four times to commission projects. This is an indication that before the end of his tenure which we pray should be eight years, he would have carried out uncountable number of projects here,” he said.
Also, the Chairman of Chikun Local Government, Salasi Musa said the flag-off was a fulfillment of the governor’s campaign promises, noting that the road would have positive impacts on the economy and lives of thousands of people living in Sabon Tasha and it’s environs.
