Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has introduced a free bus and ferry transportation service for residents in celebration of Easter.

The initiative aims to ease transportation burdens and ensure everyone can enjoy the festive season.

Ekpenyong Akiba, Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, flagged off the service in Calabar.

Akiba said “This thoughtful gesture is designed to ease the burden of transportation on our people and ensure everyone, regardless of background or status, feels the joy and sweetness of Easter.”

The free transportation service will cover multiple routes, including ten routes within Calabar Municipality, such as Watt Market to Scanobo and Watt Market to Atimbo.

Others are eight inter-local government routes, including Calabar to Ugep, Ikom, Abi, Obudu, and Ogoja.

The free ferry service will cover Calabar to Creek Town, Odukpani.

Akiba emphasized that the initiative is more than a policy but a bold statement of love, highlighting the administration’s commitment to putting people first.

By providing this service, the government, he said aims to make movement easier for families, workers, students, and visitors alike, fostering a sense of unity and inclusiveness.
