Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu and his deputy, Peter Odey, will lead a high-powered delegation of eminent state officials to meet President Bola Tinubu in Abuja to address concerns over the state’s perceived marginalisation in federal appointments and infrastructure projects.

The decision was outlined in a communiqué issued on Tuesday, 15 April 2025, following an enlarged All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting in Calabar, chaired by the Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, with the deputy governor and four others on the drafting committee.

The communiqué urged the formation of the delegation to engage Tinubu directly while also expressing gratitude for his approval of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Special Agro-Processing Zone in Cross River. It acknowledged Otu’s efforts in tackling insecurity, stressed the importance of ongoing stakeholder engagement, and called for party unity.

The caucus passed a vote of confidence in Tinubu, Otu, and Odey, endorsing them for second terms in 2027. Otu thanked stakeholders for their support, pledging to leave Cross River “significantly better” by 2031.
