Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has awarded the reconstruction of Birnin Kebbi, the state capital city’s roads for N9.04 billion to contractor for execution within 18 months.
Idris, who signed the agreement with Habib Engineering Limited on behalf of the state government at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, said his administration would give the state capital a befitting status. The governor also announced that his administration would commence rehabilitation of schools and hospitals promising not to fail in the two sectors.
“This state is our state and we are going to develop it by ourselves. We have to turn the state capital to a befitting one that we shall all be proud of. I want to employ the company too, Habib Engineering Limited, and the Ministry of Works to abide by the rules and ensure that the agreement we signed is followed and all the works are done according to expectations. We are going to monitor and ensure compliance. We have just started,in the next two or one weeks, we would be back here and sign the contract for the completion of the secretariat.”
The governor said funds accruing to the sate was for all citizens and government would utilise it for the benefit of all.
“This kind of road contract will be extended to all the three senatorial districts. For now,our responsibilities is to ensure,first and foremost,to give the state capital the name it’s deserved. We have already agreed that we would carry everybody along irrespective of their political parties affiliation. Kebbi State,like I said,it is a state for all of us. By next week,God’s willing ,we will start looking at the renovation and rehabilitation of our schools and hospitals.”
General Manager, Habib Engineering Limited, Ammar Nouri, said the company has been doing business in the state for the past 20 years.
