The Gombe State Police Command has announced the arrest of 25 suspects in connection to the violent assault on a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Kwadon community in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the attack occurred on May 20, 2025, around 9:00 a.m., when a group of suspected Kalare miscreants assaulted the DPO of Kwadon Division, CSP Adamu Alhaji Idi.

The officer sustained multiple injuries, including a deep wound to his forehead, and was promptly rushed to the Federal Teaching (FTH) Gombe, where he is currently receiving treatment.

The Police Command said it received a distress call from the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, prompting the immediate deployment of officers from Operation Hattara, led by CSP Ali Madaki. Their swift response led to the arrest of 25 suspects, all residents of Kwadon.

The suspects, ranging in age from 18 to 65, are currently in police custody undergoing investigation. Upon conclusion, they will be charged to court, the statement said.

In a show of commitment to restoring peace, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, alongside other senior officers, visited Kwadon to assess the situation and assure the community of the Command’s resolve to deal firmly with criminal elements.

“The Command reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards violence against security personnel,” the statement read. “Anyone found guilty of such acts will face the full wrath of the law”.

The police further urged residents of Kwadon and the wider Gombe State to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with ongoing investigations.
