The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 19 years old man suspected of being a serial rapist in the Nafada Local Government Area (LGA) of Gombe State. The suspect, Ibrahim Gidado has been identified as the perpetrator of eight different cases of rape, all involving girls between the ages of three and six.

According to the state Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Bello Muazu, his Men in Nafada LGA received information from concerned members of the public about the alleged criminal activities of the suspect. Upon investigation, the NSCDC was able to apprehend the suspect, who has since confessed to committing the crimes.

The Commandant has commended the efforts of the residents of Nafada, especially the father of a 3-year-old girl who was the most recent victim, in helping to identify and apprehend the suspect. The organization has also assured Gombe State residents of its commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of citizens against all forms of criminal activity.

Muazu reiterated the need for the public to report any suspicious activity in their communities, especially as it relates to the safety and security of children and the community in general. He also called on other law enforcement agencies to work together in tackling the menace of sexual violence and rape in the state and country.

The Commandant assured that the suspect is currently in their custody and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded. He also promised to provide updates on the case as it unfolds.

Meanwhile, the suspect Ibrahim Gidado told newsmen that he doesn’t know why, but he found pleasure in raping minors. “I just enjoy it, I think it is the work of the devil. I usually called my victims promising to send them on an errand before using them in the process,” Gidado explains in Hausa language. According to him, his arrest has taught him a lesson, promising that he will never engage in the act again.

I have repented now, I will never do it again,” Gidado said as he pleaded for forgiveness.
