Four Emirates of Kebbi State, Gwandu’, Argungu, Yauri and Zuru are to slug it out through football competition to determine their superiority in the state.
 Chairman of the Committee of Friends of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, who is also the State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Muslim, confirmed this at a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi.
He disclosed that the committee has lined up an exciting football competition to celebrate the two-year anniversary in office of the two esteemed leaders.
Muslim said as friends of the Governor, the organisers introduced the competition to celebrate the fruitful good governance of Comrade Nasir Idris and use it as a platform to strengthen unity among youths.
“We are here as organisers of the Tinubu/Kaura 2 year anniversary Football tournament to be competed for among the four Emirates in Kebbi”,
“The youths feel desirous to do something to unite them in the entire state, and nothing like football offer such opportunity”,
“This is a very important competition of which Governor Nasir Idris will be the Special Guest of Honour”,
“The governor’s younger brother, Umar Idris Buro is the Grand Patron, myself as the Chairman while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Muhammad Umar Tilli is the Secretary of the Committee”,
“Prizes to be presented include a trophy and a car to the winning team, a new motorcycle and N500,000 to the runners-up, N500,000 to the 3rd position”,
“Also to benefit are the 4th position N300,000, highest goals scorer N100,000, best goalkeeper N100,000, Man of the Match N100,000”, the Commissioner explained.
The Permanent Secretary and Secretary of the Committee, Muhammad Umar Tilli, says the match schedule unfold on the 25th of May, 2025, during which Gwandu and Zuru Emirates will trade tackles at the FIFA model Stadium, Goru, near Birnin Kebbi.
“Argungu and Yauri will lace boots and face one another on the 26th at the same venue, 3rd place match takes place the next day on the 27th, while the competition comes to a climax on the 28th”,
“This tournament is to celebrate good governance of Tinubu and Kauran Gwandu and not merely to win”,
“We shall provide free feeding and accommodation to participants with N500,000 reward to the most behaved supporters group from any Emirate donated by the Commissioner”, Tilli said.
