Nigerian Maritime industry was thrown into mourning on September 23, when news broke that one of its major stakeholders, George Chukwuma Ndubuisi, founder and chairman, Far East Group of Companies and chairman, TopNews Publishing Limited, is dead.

He died of undisclosed illness at the age of 58. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Amaka, eive children, brothers and sisters.

He was a graduate of Lagos State University where he obtained B.sc in Public Administration and was about to complete his Masters degree in the University of Lagos.

Prominent people across the country, friends, business associates and other sympathisers have been trooping to his resident in Oko-Afa area of Lagos State to commiserate with the family. On hand to receive sympathisers were his wife and his elder brother, Joseph Onyebuchi.

Earlier callers were Uchechukwu Ogah, immediate past minister of state for mines and development who described him as a brother and a true compatriot. He highlighted how the bond between the two of them could not be broken. He urged the widow and children to hold on to God and also follow the footstep of their father.

In the same vein, Festus Uzoma Mbisiogu, chairman/chief executive officer, Blue Diamond Logistics, China, and former coordinator of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Guangzhou chapter, described him as a true and trusted friend and brother and reminded the family to bear in mind that their late father and breadwinner was transparent, competent and straight forward in dealings with other people, saying that was why he trusted him in all his business dealings and transactions with him.   

He recalled how his business in Nigeria and West Africa thrived with the sincerity and resilience of Ndubuisi which, according to him, turned Blue Diamond Logistics into a household name in Nigeria and in West Africa. 

Meanwhile, service of songs/wake-keep is slated for November 24 at Enugw Ukwu Community Development Union, Lagos Unity Hall, No 3-5, Enugwu Ukwu Street, Lakeview Estate, Phase 11, by Capital Filling Station, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos State.
