… Says number keep rising despite alternative interventions

House of Rammah Foundation, has provided school uniform, textbooks and other school kits for school children in Aboro community, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun state in order to support their education.

“We thought it worthwhile to celebrate with some specially identified pupils of community Primary School and it’s environs.

The Convener of the initiative, Risikat Adeola-Adisa said despite alternative intervention,the number of out-of-school children keeps rising in Nigeria.

Adeola-Adisa disclosed this at a recent charity event held to celebrate children in a rural community. Presently in Nigeria , primary education is officially free and compulsory but eighteen million (18,000,000)of the country’s children aged between five – fourteen (5-14)years are not in school. Only sixty one(61) percent of six(6) -year-olds regularly attend primary school.

Adeola-Adisa said as an organization,we consider education as the best mode of rehabilitating children who roam the street to survive this is a core area of service of our NGO.We have been helping street and rural children get enrolled in school, after donating school kits,we ensure they get guidance and counseling as a direct intervention to rehabilitate and reintegrate the children into school.

She explained that high poverty levels and the lack of access to quality education have severely disrupted the way children get for education in Nigeria, leading to several negative and educational fallouts.

“Majority of Nigerians, especially those in low-income communities find it hard to make ends meet,let alone buy books to place in the hands of their children or have them experience what it means to receive a quality education.

She added how they encouraged them to have hope and put smiles on their faces.We boosted their self -esteem and self -confidence through the motivation talk we gave them,apart from the donation we gave them some refreshment just to see them happy.

Head Teacher of the school,Mrs Abibat Kolawole expressed delight over the donations.

Kolawole lauded the initiative, and commended the NGO’s gesture, and urged other stakeholders to emulate it.
