Former PDP Chairman, Nasarawa State, Hon. Francis Orogu has officially assumed office as the new Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the North Central zone, pledging to change the negative perception of the party and improve its political fortunes.

Orogu, took over the mantle of leadership on Tuesday at the Nasarawa State PDP Secretariat along Jos Road, Lafia. The symbolic transition followed the successful North Central Zonal Congress recently held in Jos, Plateau State.

Representing the Zonal Chairman and Vice Chairman (North), Hon. Abdulraman Mohammed, Orogu took charge of the zonal affairs from his predecessor, Hon. Maurice Tsav.

Speaking shortly after taking over, Orogu said he was mindful of the challenges ahead and was prepared to make the necessary sacrifices.

“I am fully aware that this position is not one of luxury but of sacrifice, dedication, and strategic commitment,” Orogu stated. “Our mission is to reposition the PDP in the North Central zone and restore the confidence of our people in the party.”

He appealed to stakeholders and party loyalists across the zone to work with unity and renewed zeal toward building a more formidable political front.

“We must set aside personal interests and work collectively to reclaim our place in the hearts of the people. The PDP must be seen as a party of purpose and integrity,” he added.

In his handing-over remarks, outgoing Zonal Secretary, Hon. Maurice Tsav, expressed confidence in Orogu’s leadership capacity.

“I am handing over to an experienced hand,” Tsav said. “This is the same man who, out of his love for the PDP, saved us from the embarrassment of conducting party business under trees. His commitment is not in doubt.”

Tsav urged party members in the zone to give the new secretary the support needed to succeed in his new role.
