Fire on Wednesday gutted Optima Energy petrol station in Obawole community, Fagba in Ifako-Ijaiye local government area of Lagos State.
It was learnt that the incident occurred when a 33,000-litre tanker conveying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to service the station located along Bola Tinubu Road burst into flames.
Confirming the incident, spokesman of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Amodu Shakiru told Daily Sun that another 33,000-litre tanker and gas skid at the scene of the incident were saved.
He said, “The fire spread to the station’s mart as well as a storey building which shares a fence with the filling station.”
The service spokesman disclosed that four fire trucks were deployed from Agege, Ikeja and Alausa headquarters to combat the fire, which has been brought under control.
“Thankfully, there was no casualty at all,” he said.
