Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has disclosed that the Federal Government will refund several billions of Naira states were owed for work done on federal roads and other infrastructure.
Dogara disclosed this when he visited the Igwe of Ogwuekpele, HRH Valentine  Onyema Ogidiga in his palace in Ogwuekpele in Anambra State.
The Speaker, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Iliya Habila, expressed the hope that when the debts owed states which haven’t been paid for work done on federal roads and other infrastructure are refunded, it would assist them in providing much critical facilities.
The statement read in part: “Regard to debts being owed states, I can announce that very soon, a chunk of money will be given to states.
“It’s being processesed and I know that no state will get less than N20 billion from the money that is coming.
“That will be something substantial in the hands of the governors. Those that are spirited, I believe they will be able to translate that money into development so that they support the diversification  if the Federal Government”.
