Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr Dele Alake, has voiced serious concerns over the ongoing conflicts among the mining companies operating in Nasarawa Local Government Area, calling on the state government to take immediate steps to resolve these disputes.
This was communicated during a formal visit to Nasarawa State Government House in Lafia by a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, led by the Director General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, Abuja, Obadiah Simon Nkom on Friday.
Nkom, speaking on behalf of the minister, emphasised the importance of resolving the conflicts before the national council meeting, stating that a peaceful and stable environment is essential for attracting and sustaining investment in the solid minerals sector.
He expressed confidence in Nasarawa State’s ability to host a successful and impactful event, given its strategic importance in Nigeria’s mining landscape.
The disputes have reportedly created tensions among various stakeholders in the mining sector within the Nasarawa Local Government Area, posing a potential threat to the region’s stability and investment climate.
Responding, Governor Abdullahi Sule, who received the delegation, expressed his administration’s commitment to swiftly implement the minister’s recommendations.
He assured that the state government is dedicated to creating a conducive environment for mining activities, which are crucial to the state’s economic development.
