The Federal Government and the North East Development Commission (NEDC) have announced their commitments to the use of modern technology for the training and learning of Arabic language in the northeast states.

Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, announced the FG/NEDC new approach yesterday at the flag off of a week train-the-trainer programme on the  integration of modern techniques to address wrong Arabic doctrinal teachings for 600 Arabic teachers across northeast states

Alausa said the training supported by the NEDC in collaboration with the Nigeria Arabic Language Village, Ngala Borno, was to deepen teachers understanding of Arabic language particularly in the area of grammar and phonological accuracy.

“This training seeks to prevent misapplication and misinterpretation of Arabic grammar that can sometimes leads to doctrinal confusion or misunderstanding,” he  said you

The minister represented by the Vice Chancellor of Al-Ansar University, Prof Abubakar Kundiri, explained that the innovation is a permanent model to improve the quality of Arabic education in the country.

He said100 teachers were drawn from each of the six states of the northeast zone.

“This pilot initiative is carefully designed, not just as a temporary intervention, but as the beginning of a sustainable model for Improving the quality of Arabic and Islamic education in Tsangaya and Islamiyya schools,” he disclosed.

Borno State Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur, said the training will help bring alignment of  knowledge between cultural and western education. He also said the initiative is strategic.

“By investing in those who educate others, we are multiplying impact, fostering sustainability, and ensuring that knowledge flows continuously into our schools and institutions,” he disclosed.
