Interswitch, has launched Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platform, eClinic, at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu (NOHE). This marks the fourth deployment of the solution across federal health institutions in the country.

The launch it disclosed, commissioned by the Hon Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, reinforces the Federal Ministry of Health’s commitment to modernising healthcare delivery through technology. Previous eClinic deployments have taken place in federal health institutions across Osun, Ogun, and Edo States.

“Developed through Interswitch’s health-tech subsidiary, Interswitch eClat, the eClinic platform is designed to optimise clinical workflows, improve patient outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency. The solution provides healthcare professionals with real-time access to centralised patient records and supports various hospital functions, including patient registration, diagnostics, pharmacy management, and administrative reporting.”

Speaking, Salako lauded the initiative, stating that it aligns with the Federal Government’s vision of building a healthier Nigeria through strategic public-private partnerships. “The adoption of digital systems like eClinic ensures that our hospitals deliver more accurate, efficient, and patient-centred care. These innovations reduce administrative bottlenecks, improve data accuracy, and empower healthcare workers.”

The company emphasised that the initiative was built with Nigeria’s healthcare infrastructure realities in mind, stating that the eClinic system functions seamlessly in both online and offline modes, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery even in areas with inconsistent internet access.

Also, at the commissioning, Vice President, Health Ecosystem (Public Sector) at Interswitch, Babatunde Fadeyi, reiterated the company’s dedication to healthcare transformation. “Our collaboration with government institutions highlights our commitment to digital transformation in key sectors. With eClinic, we are enabling healthcare professionals to deliver better outcomes through improved efficiency and access to critical patient data,” he stated.

“The deployment in Enugu was preceded by comprehensive stakeholder engagement, custom development, and hands-on staff training. Interswitch’s iterative approach ensures that each rollout is tailored to meet the unique needs of the facility, with healthcare workers actively shaping the platform through continuous feedback.
