The Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Police Command said it has rescued two kidnapped victims abducted from their homes at Kobi Community.
The victims, Sarah Hassan and Mrs Erima Bobo-John, were said to have been rescued by operatives attached to Asokoro Police Divisional Headquarters, who trailed the kidnappers to Nyanya/Keffi road where they were blocked by operatives of the Nigerian Army on checkpoint operations.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Josephine Adeh, in a statement, said the victims who were rescued unhurt have since been reunited with their families.
She said:”The Command continues to enjoin residents to report suspicious activities through the following emergency lines ; 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883; PCB: 09022222352”.
The commissioner said, during interrogation, the suspect could not give satisfactory account of himself, hence a search was conducted on his vehicle and the sun of N8,555,000, Seven mobile phones, N3,000 unused MTN recharge cards and seven amulets were discovered in his car.
“Immediately the policemen started searching the vehicle, two of the suspects, jumped out of the vehicle,and ran into the bush. The Suspect tried to bribe the PMF personnel, requested them to take the whole money and allow him to go, but the PMF personnel refused and arrested him accordingly.
“During our further investigation, we discovered another N4000,000 in the suspect’s bank account”, he disclosed.
Meanwhile, the suspect Mohammed, denied being a kidnapper or criminal of any kind. He however explained that the criminals requested him to drive them to Ngolore market near Yola, Adamawa State to buy cows since their vehicle was in a bad condition.
According to him, the criminals explained to him that the money was a stolen money, and they were going to buy cows for their boss.
In another development,CP Aribo, disclosed that operatives of Anti-Kidnapping team, acting on a tip-off, succeeded in arresting a gang of suspected kidnappers terrorizing Jauro Ganah New CBN and environs.
They included :Habibu Ibrahim aka Rilwanu, Abba Mohammed aka Gandari, Aliyasssa’u Umar, Abdulaziz Adamu aka Dan-Mallam, Danlami Ibrahim( aka Teacher), all of Jauro Ganah New CBN, and the suspects have confessed to have been involved in many kidnappings around Jauro Ganah and New CBN respectively,while three AK47 rifles with five rounds of live ammunition each were recovered from the suspects, who have given the police the lead on how to apprehended other gang members who are on the run.
