From Abdulrazaq Mungadi, Gombe
The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the tragic killing of one Ahmed Aliyu Umar, a 45-year-old man, following a violent knife attack by unidentified assailants in Hammadu Kafi community in the Akko Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the incident was reported by Bashir Aliyu Umar at around 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025. However, he disclosed that the attack occurred earlier on the same day.
He explained that the victim sustained fatal stab wounds to the left side of his chest and back and was rushed to the Gombe State Specialist Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel. Abdullahi added that the victim’s body has since been deposited at the Bolari Filin Kwallo Mortuary.
Describing the incident as a case of criminal conspiracy and homicide, the Police Command condemned the “senseless and unwarranted act of violence” and extended condolences to the bereaved family.
Abdullahi further disclosed that in response to the incident, the police have initiated an intelligence-led investigation and vowed to intensify efforts to track down and apprehend those responsible for the heinous crime.
The Command also called on the public to remain calm and urged anyone with relevant information to assist in the ongoing investigation, reaffirming its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.
