The Fafunwa Educational Foundation (FEF) has concluded plans to host its 22nd Annual FEF lecture to be delivered by the Vice Chancellor, Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, Prof. Clement Kolawole.
The occasion will also be used by FEF to confer awards on the best PhD in Education.
According to the Secretary of FEF, Muyiwa Obiyomi, Prof. Kolawole will speak on “Getting Nigeria’s Out-of-School Children Back into School and into Education”.
He further revealed that the lecture will be chaired by the Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Hamid Bobboyi while the guest of honour is the Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University of Education, Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye and retired Director, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Dennis Okoro as chief host.
Obiyomi said the 22nd annual lecture will be held at The Muson Center next week Tuesday and that the wife of Prof. Fafunwa, Chief Doris Fafunwa will Grace the occasion.
On the best PhD award, the secretary said the FEF has awarded grants to over 40 doctoral theses.
‘The grants support quality research by graduate students from the University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, University of Benin, University of Ilorin, Lagos State University, Usmanu Dan Fodiyo, University of Calabar and Delta State University.
Obiyomi further disclosed that awards for best practices in education have been given to several Nigerian states as trailblazers in specific education areas and the recipients include Lagos, Ogun, Edo and Anambra States.
