The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Force criminals Investigations Department (FCID), Abuja, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has promised to give the Department a new look.

He said: “FCID is the best department in term of investigations in the Nigeria Police. We will bring out the best for other countries to follow. They will learn from us on how proper and thorough investigations should be carried out.

“I am aware of the task ahead. I will have to train and re-trained my officers on how to conduct investigations properly and conduct themselves properly to the public.

“I have told our personnel that they need to apply thorough professionalism and imbibe the culture of civilised engagement with the public when they are discharging their duties. I also warned them to shun corruption. If any officer is involved in corruption he will be disciplined according to Police Regulations Act.

“They should carry out their duties professionally and give confidence to  the public whenever they are investigating any case. They have to be hardworking, conduct themselves properly in the public. They should also look descent in their dressing.

“We will give the FCID a face-lift where officers can work in good environment; where they can handle any case professionally; where the public can appreciate them.

“I have directed all the commissioners of police in the various sections of the department to always supervise their officers in every investigation. They should ensure that matters brought before them are concluded properly before taking them to court.”
