For the family of Walter Ndubueze Okafor, Ndigbu in Otolo Nnewi, Anambra State, Thursday, October 12, and Friday, October 13, will be the celebration of a life well lived as they accord their departed matriarch, Ezinne Esther Onyemaechi Okafor, a befitting farewell.
A devout Anglican, the late Okafor died on August 9, at the ripe age of 90.
According to a programme of events released by the family, her right of passage will commence on October 12 with a service of songs at her compound.
Internment follows the next day after a requiem mass in her honor.
Friends and business associates of the deceased’s last son, Jonathan Uzochukwu Okafor, who had at one time or another met her, testified to the engaging, kind, and easygoing personality she was.
According to them, her eventful lifetime on earth was driven by diligence, tenacity of purpose, honesty, and hard work; rare virtues that greatly endeared her to many who had contact with her.
Besides being a devout Christian of the Anglican faith, Ezinne Okafor was also a community leader, a businesswoman, and a philanthropist, whose selflessness was unparalleled.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including Bennet Okafor, Ifeanyi Okafor, Ikechukwu Okafor, Jonathan Uzo-Okafor, and Ebere Okwosa.
