Eze Igbo Ifako Ijaiye, Micheal Ezekwobi, has called on Igbo in the Diaspora to reawaken Igbo cultural value in line with legacy of the late Igbo leader, Ikemba Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu.
In a statement, Eze Ezekwobi lamented that values like honesty, loyalty and hard work which Igbo are known for all over the world is gradually being replaced with get-rich-quick syndrome, a development that is totally alien to Igbo.
While tracing causes of the ugly attitudes to harsh economic policies and greed, the eze called on Igbo to look back and emulate great Igbo leaders like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Odumegwu Ojukwu, Michael Okpara, and others.
“These Igbo leaders lived selfless life in service to humanity. For those of us in the Diaspora, it is the right time we build on ideas that bring us to gather like our language and promotion of our culture through events like the new yam festival.”
On the economic challenges being face by Nigerians, Ezekwobi called on the Federal Government to revisit the abandoned South East, North East Rail line project, adding that if the railways were functional across the country, the harsh impact of the fuel subsidy removal would be mitigated as people would be able to move their goods across the country without much difficulty and at cheaper rates.
