The House of Representatives has amended the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Act, extending implementation of the capital component to June 30.
The amendment of the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation Act was sequel to a request by President Bola Tinubu, to approve an amendment to the supplementary budget.
President Tinubu, in a letter addressed to the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, and read at yesterday’s plenary, requested for the extension of the supplementary budget, from March 31 to June 30, to enable the government execute capital projects.
The House Whip, Bello Kumo, while presenting the bill for the alteration of the 2023 Supplementary Budget Act, said that the amendment was in the overall interest of the House. Kumo urged lawmakers to support the bill as it would enhance good governance.
Thereafter, the bill was taken for first reading, second reading and considered at the Committee on Supply before its eventual passage, at the plenary.
