The Retired Army, Navy, Air force Officers Association has decried the failure of the Military Pension Board to implement the new minimum wage for its members.
The new wage structure was signed into law months ago and has been implemented by the Federal Government and most state governments since the past two months.
Speaking with reporters in Kano, Monday, the Publicity Secretary of the Association, Yusuf Abdulmalik said that though they were in touch with the Military Board on the subject , their communications were yet to yield the desired results.
He implored President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and impress it on the Board to immediately commence implementon given that new wage structure is now a part of the law.
Yusuf, a retired Captain in his days in service; also explained that following the implementation of the new wage by governments at all levels, the prices of goods and services in the country have skyrocketed , a situation which had impacted negatively on its members.
He prayed that the implementation, when it finally arrives, should be accompanied by its arrears, while requesting that it should be paid in bulk, as against by installments, which will not be favourable to their members.
The octogenarian stressed the need for greater details regarding payments credited to them by the Board, noting that, of recent. they had recieved alerts which came without details regarding what was paid.
“The benefits of providing more information is awesome. it would shed light on which particular or approved payment been being paid and which arrears or payments were yet to be paid. This will enable us track these arrears and establish those that yet to be paid”.
