A former Niger Delta agitator and freedom fighter, Endurance Amagbein, has raised the alarm of fresh plans to attack military formations in the creeks of Bayelsa State by some unidentified persons and pin it on him.

While distancing himself from the planned attack, he declared that the era of militancy and armed agitations in the Niger Delta region was over.

Meanwhile, Amagbein has commended President Bola Tinubu’s government on his efforts at making lives better in the region.

In a statement by his media aide, Mr. Mightywind Dudafa, the ex-agitator said he would not relent in his clamour for peace in the region.

While condemning the planned attack, he said nobody should give him a bad name for crimes he did not commit simply because he was once a militant.

He said he was not the only militant in the Niger Delta and that they didn’t go into militancy because of poverty, but to address issues affecting the people of the region at that time.

Amagbein explained that their agitation was to compel the Federal Government to pay attention to the oil bearing communities.

According to him, the administration of President Tinubu was doing much to change the narratives so nobody should portray him as an enemy of the Federal Government and service chiefs.

The ex-agitator said he was appreciative of the sacrifices the service chiefs and all military personnel make to ensure there is peace in Nigeria, especially the present leadership led by Gen. Christopher Musa.

He condemned the planned attack, adding that an intelligence report at his disposal indicated moves by some persons, who are bent on bringing him down, to attack military men to pitch the armed forces against him again.

He called on the leadership of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) to call those behind ‘the senseless act’ to order, saying he got demoralised whenever people accuse him of what he knows nothing about.

He also admonished all military personnel in the creeks of Bayelsa to be vigilant, so they could live to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

He prayed for God’s blessing and protection over all military personnel in Bayelsa, who had denied themselves comfort just to serve their fatherland.
