The member representing Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dennis Agbo, has officially announced his defection from the Labour Party (LP) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement personally signed by him and made available to journalists, yesterday, Agbo cited the impressive performance of the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, as one of the key reasons for his return to the PDP.

He said: “The performance of the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah, since inauguration has been nothing short of outstanding.

“I have so far enjoyed the privilege and opportunity of supporting and contributing my own efforts to this commitment to moving the state forward.”

He also attributed his decision to the “lingering crisis and intractable division in the Labour Party,” as well as calls from his constituents.

“In deference to the popular wishes of the highly enterprising people of Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, the lingering crisis and intractable division in the Labour Party, and in recognition of the same superlative performance of the governor, I have decided to resign my membership of the Labour Party (LP) and return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),” he stated.

Agbo expressed optimism that aligning politically with Governor Mbah would strengthen efforts to deliver more democratic dividends to his constituents.

“Our people believe, and I now agree with them, that working from the same political platform with the governor will create such synergy that will serve the greater good of our Federal Constituency, and Enugu State in general,” he added.

He disclosed that the formal ceremony to mark his return to the PDP would take place at the party’s state secretariat in GRA, Enugu, today.
