It is another gracious week to be alive and it’s my pleasure to welcome you to another supernatural encounter on this platform of TOTAL EXPERIENCE. We are still dealing with the subject of being EMPOWERED TO BE FRUITFUL. Our anchor scriptures for this series remain GENESIS 1:26-28; GENESIS 17:6-9; & LEVITICUS 26:9-12.
In the previous edition we gave you two vital keys to how to enjoy fruitfulness in life. We dealt with the need to catch a vision of the future you want to experience and also to deliberately and consciously declare what you see and know about the very future you desire. Here we welcome you to join us as we continue our spiritual ride.
HOW DO WE ENJOY FRUITFULNESS IN LIFE? Cont’d
3. WALKING WITH GOD.
This is so fundamental that it is on it all other experiences with the supernatural depend. It is important to remind us at this point that the true essence of Christianity lies in understanding that it is not a religion but a divine relationship with God. Walking with God is the crux of that relationship.
In Genesis chapter seventeen, we read of an encounter that the Patriarch Abraham had with God. At this point Abraham had followed God for some time, beginning from chapter twelve. He had had several encounters, received various instructions and specifically, had received the promise of an heir. In spite of all the dynamism in Abraham’s relationship with God, it appears here that God zeroed all possibilities to the single demand of walking with Him.
Therefore, in GENESIS 17:1-9, the scripture records, “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee and will multiply thee exceedingly. And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.”
There is a great difference between working for God and walking with God. Today, many people have made working for God their priority as against or at the expense of walking with God. One of the greatest secrets of fruitfulness and success in life is walking with God. The extent you will experience fruitfulness in life will depend on how much you are willing to walk with God.
What gives value for working for God is walking with God. Maintaining a quality walk with God is a vital secret for enjoying supernatural productivity in all you do. The deeper the walk with God, the greater the impact in life. Our effect in life, business, job and career is limited by our effectual walk with God.
Nothing works outside God. In HEBREW 3:4, the Bible says, “For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God”. God is the Builder of all things. All heroes of faith in the scriptures are men who walked with God. Abraham walked with God, as expressed in GENESIS 17:1: “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” Enoch walked with God as recorded in GENESIS 5:24 “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him”.
Walking with God is all about our relationship with God, but working for God has to do with our assignment. Relationship is the essence of our connection and interactions with God. The question begging for answer is “What is your relationship with God?” “Do you have a relationship with God?” Or “You are just busy trying to work for God?
Our number one task in life is to walk with God. That is what God values the most and it is what we need the most. When we walk with God, He will empower us to be productive in whatever we do. We cannot enjoy maximum productivity in life without God. In John 3:2, we read the account of a visitor to Jesus by the name of Nicodemus; “The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.” The emphasis here is “…for no man can do…, except God be with him.” We also read in JOHN 15:5, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
Efforts in life, business and jobs amounts to zero without God. In ZECHARIAH 4:6, God is very clear about how everything depends on His involvement. “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” Even our Lord Jesus depended on His Walk with The Father to be able to do the works that He was sent to do. In John 8:29, we hear Jesus say, “And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.” In JOHN 14:10, He reiterates, “Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.”
Walking with God is the first key that provokes unusual productivity in our endeavours in life. All great men in the scriptures sustained impact by their continuous walk with God.
Walking with God is not accidentally attained. It is a deliberate, conscious and consistent process committed to by the Believer. If your mind is not made up, the experience of walking with God can never be achieved. Therefore, in the next edition, join us as we begin to look at avenues we can explore to achieve a consistent and deeper walk with God. Meanwhile, make up your mind to travel this path of unstoppable productivity. Prioritize walking with God over working for God. The difference is always clear.
