A Senior Magistrate Court situated at No – Man’s Land Complex in Kano State has remanded the Majority of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Garba Doguwa in prison.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) legislator, who represents Tudun Wada/ Doguwa Federal Constituency is to remain in prison until March 7th , 2023 when the Court presided by Magistrate Ibrahim Mansur Yola will hear his bail application.
The lawmaker, alongside his police orderly, was arrested on Tuesday at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, on his way to Saudi Arabia.
He was arraigned for his alleged complicity in the death of three persons and the grievous injury of eight others during the just concluded presidential elections that took place in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state.
A statement earlier signed by the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, a superintendent, said that they had earlier extended a formal invitation to the lawmaker following complaints received against him over the tragic incident in Tudun Wada Local Government Area.
“Sequel to his refusal to honour the invitation, the Command was left with no other option but to activate a motion that would lead to his arrest” he said.
“He was subsequently arrested by detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department Bompai at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
It could be recalled that the campaign office of the House of Representatives candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for Tudun Wada/Doguwa constituency, Air Commodore Salisu Yushau was set ablaze by a gang of thugs allegedly on the orders of the legislator. Two persons were found dead in a burnt vehicle while one other victim died later following the act of arson and thuggery that were perpetuated by the thugs.
