Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa) has appointed Senator Uche Ekwunife as one of its board of directors.

A statement signed by the Executive Director of WiM-Africa, Dr Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji, in Abuja, says Senator Ekwunife’s track record of leadership, deep-rooted commitment to social change, and extensive experience make her a valuable addition to the board.

According to the statement, the appointment marks an important step in advancing WiM-Africa’s commitment to creating pathways for women, protecting children, and uplifting mining host communities across Africa.

“With over 25 years of impactful leadership and dedication to philanthropy within Nigeria, Senator Uche brings a wealth of experience to her new role, reinforcing WiM-Africa’s mission to empower women in the mining sector and drive positive change across Africa,” Asokoro-Ogaji stressed.

In her acceptance speech, Senator Uche Ekwunife expressed appreciation for the opportunity to work alongside a team dedicated to creating positive change. She also looks forward to contributing to initiatives that empower women in mining, strengthen communities across the continent, and advance sustainable and responsible mining practices.
