The Ekiti State government will commence an aerial mapping exercise across the state on Sunday, April 20, to implement a comprehensive land administration solution.
The initiative aims to enhance the government’s ability to plan effectively for residents and support sustainable development.
The Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, announced on Saturday, The exercise, which would witness the aircraft conducting aerial mapping flying at very low altitude, would last till December 2025.
He explained that the mapping will provide accurate geospatial data, crucial for land management, urban planning, and infrastructure development. It would enable the government to make informed decisions regarding land use, allocation, and development, leading to improved governance and sustainable development, Olatunbosun added.
Furthermore, the commissioner noted benefits for stakeholders, explaining that the availability of accurate and up-to-date geospatial data would provide stakeholders, including landowners, property developers, investors, and community organisations, with greater certainty and confidence in their land transactions and investments. This will reduce risks like boundary disputes and fraudulent transactions, fostering investment in real estate and infrastructure.
Olatunbosun assured residents of safety measures, noting, that all necessary safety measures would be put in place during the aerial survey with close monitoring of all activities during the mapping exercise in the interest of public safety.
He urged residents not to panic when sighting a plane flying at low altitude.
Reaffirming Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to development, Olatunbosun sought stakeholders’ support for the exercise’s success, ensuring it aligns with public safety and national security.
