Ola Olukoyede, Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has called on Christians to recommit to anti-corruption values during Easter.

Speaking in Abuja on Saturday, April 19, the EFCC boss put on spotlight on the season’s lessons of renewal and integrity.

Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, shared Olukoyede’s message. “Easter season offers opportunities of renewal, revival and restoration to Christians,” Olukoyede said. “May this season revive in us the overriding need for integrity, transparency and higher ideals for the development of the nation.”

Olukoyede linked Christ’s sacrifices to nation-building. “We all need to redouble our energy and embrace sacrifices, no matter how demanding, for the rebuilding of our nation. It is a task for every Nigerian, irrespective of class or creed,” he stated. He urged Christians to draw inspiration from Easter’s themes to fight corrupt practices.

Additionally, Olukoyede praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “It resonates deeply with the Christian beliefs of resurrection and revival,” he said.

He encouraged Nigerians to maintain faith in the country’s progress, adding, “Our abiding faith in Nigeria should remain unshaken. We should grow stronger each day in our quest for reform and development.”

The EFCC boss reaffirmed his commitment to tackling corruption. “We have put our hands on the plough, we cannot afford to look back,” he said. He further called on stakeholders to remain steadfast in the anti-graft fight, promoting transparency and accountability for sustainable development.
