From Fred Itua, Abuja
Months after a tour of the United Kingdom, popular Nigerian Hype Man, Voltage of Hype, has made good his promise to continually thrill his fans not just in Nigeria, but across the globe.
The Edo-born entertainment mogul, Martins Gideon Aturuemu, better known as Voltage of Hype said he is not resting on his oars as there are a lot of barriers he intends to break in the genre of hype.
The energetic hype man who just returned to Nigeria after a three-country tour of Malta (Ice-Land) Italy (Vicenza) and Switzerland (Lausanne) in October, said “hyping” as a genre in the entertainment industry is an untapped landscape that needs to be better explored.
He said the tour which held in three cities in the aforementioned countries, gave him the opportunity not just to export his trade to an international audience, but to also make new fans and contacts for future gigs.
Voltage of Hype particularly noted that though he’s not a musician, the love he got from Nigerians in the diaspora, other Africans and Europeans alike, has given him the impetus to consider more foreign tours in more cities in the near future.
He said: “The experience garnered from Malta, Italy and Switzerland was an eye opener to more things to come from his stables.
“I know that the concept of hype is relatively new to the African terrain but it is a professional vocation that has created jobs and opportunities to the teeming youths of Nigeria.
“This art form is something unemployed youths can latch on instead of being stagnated and waiting for government to provide jobs and an enabling environment to thrive.
“They should make out time to get trained in the hyping business instead of remaining unemployed and miserable while those employed yet interested may even want to consider it as a side hustle for extra income.
“The entertainment industry has since opened up more opportunities for people of all ages to explore and become entrepreneurs who may not have to depend on monthly income from government paid jobs.”
He further assured that hyping is still untapped, hence the need for entertainment-loving youths to take advantage of the opportunities it avails.
He also admonished young people to stop thinking that they must move to Lagos before they hit the limelight, saying that anyone can become big in his current location especially now that with the internet, one can break boundaries and reach uncommon grounds.
Voltage of Hype said he is open to more gigs as the year draws to an end and thanked his fans for their support since his emergence into the entertainment industry.
