Chairman of Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has expressed excitement over the return of the Labour Party Governorship candidate in Enugu State in the last election, Hon Chijioke Edeoga to the PDP.
In a statement, Wabara said with the development, the South East which used to be a stronghold of the PDP, would regain its lost status by 2027.
The former Senate President regretted that some states in the zone which were previously controlled by the PDP were lost to other parties in 2023 general polls.
He however, noted with delight that some aggrieved members who dumped the party in some states “are now returning to the fold.”
The PDP BoT Chairman commended Edeoga for the bold step to return to the party after contesting against Gov. Mbah in 2023, adding that his return was a testament of Mbah’s developmental strides which he said have weakened opposition in the State.
“Once election ends, governance begins. And when a leader shows capacity as Gov. Mbah has demonstrated, the reasonable thing for the opposition is to become supportive”.
Wabara commended Mbah who is presently the only PDP Governor in South East for marketing the party through his numerous laudable achievements.
He urged aggrieved members of the party who defected after the last general elections to return to the PDP and help rebuild it.
