Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Ebonyi State chapter, yesterday, described as false, allegations being peddled by some opposition elements in th state that its members had been mandated by the state government to forfeit N80 million each from their June allocations in pursuit of Governor Francis Nwifuru’s tribunal case.

Chairman of ALGON in the state, Ogodo Ali, who addressed journalists in Abakaliki in company with 12 other members, urged the public to ignore the falsehood.

Ali, chairman of Ezza North Local Government Area, called on the opposition elements peddling the falsehood to come out and substantiate their allegations or retract their publications.

“ALGON in Ebonyi State jointly and severally disassociates itself from the misleading allegation targeted at demeaning the credibility of the bureaucratic process of the state, especially, the local government system and call upon the impostor to either substantiate his claim with verifiable and empirical evidence or retract same forthwith.

“We, member of ALGON, shall deploy all available means within the ambit of the law to defend its integrity while identifying and protecting the laudable programmes and policies of the state Government. Conclusively, we call on the good people of the state to discountenance this wicked and baseless fallacy calculated at distracting the smooth take- off of the current administration in Ebony State.”
