Prince Uche Secondus, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged Nigerians to pray fervently for divine intervention in the country’s affairs.

In an Easter message released through his Special Adviser on Media, Ike Abonyi, Secondus highlighted Nigeria’s blessings but lamented ongoing suffering due to poor leadership.

Secondus stressed the need for prayers to instil God’s fear in leaders. “Though God has blessed Nigeria, the citizens have continued to suffer as a result of poor leadership,” he said. He also urged relentless prayers to address insecurity nationwide.

Focusing on Rivers State, Secondus cautioned those “playing God” and toying with citizens’ destinies to “beware of the consequences of their actions.” He implored President Bola Tinubu to resist misguided advice, stating, “The President should… be guided by the voice of reason by restoring Governor Similaya Fubara, who has the mandate of the people.”

Secondus criticised the Sole Administrator’s actions, saying, “The Sole Administrator activities have set Rivers State on a keg of gunpowder, and I weep for my state. Sadly Rivers State has found itself on the ugly side of history over the control of Resources and the state by one man.”

He praised the Ijaw nation for their restraint, noting, “My special appreciation goes to the Ijaw nation, its leaders and people, the indisputable fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria with over 30 LGAs across seven states, for managing the provocations.”

Additionally, Secondus urged Christians to embody Christ’s love and piety. “Easter period reminds us of brotherly love, peaceful co-existence, tolerance, honesty, humility, justice, equity and fairness to all without discrimination as contained in the Scriptures,” he said. He added, “This particular injunction is important to us as a nation as we continue to contend with the challenges of nation-building, bad economy, insecurity and poor leadership.”

Secondus encouraged hope, stating, “Christ’s resurrection at Easter brings hope to mankind knowing that after Good Friday of disappointment and the death of Christ comes an alleluia Sunday.”
