The Northern Senators Forum has called on Nigerians to reject hate speech, bigotry, corruption, banditry, and terrorism, stressing that a society grounded in tolerance and empathy is key to national peace and prosperity.

In an Easter message, the chairman of the forum, Sen. Abdulaziz Yar’adua, urges them to use the Easter celebration as a time for national reflection, unity, and a renewed commitment to moral values, even as the country continues to grapple with deep-seated challenges.

He noted that Easter offers more than a religious observance as it serves as a powerful reminder of the triumph of good over evil and a call to build a more just and compassionate society.

“As we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are reminded of the values of love, forgiveness, and compassion that lie at the heart of Easter,” the statement read. “These values are crucial to healing our nation and moving forward from the divisions and crises we face.”

Senator Yar’adua emphasised that true fulfillment does not lie in material wealth but in fostering meaningful connections with God and fellow citizens.

“This period calls for introspection and a renewed dedication to applying the teachings of Jesus Christ in our daily lives,” he said. “By prioritizing the well-being and happiness of others, we can build a country where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.”

The Forum also encouraged citizens to show greater love and accommodation for their neighbors, saying such values are necessary to build a cohesive and progressive nation.
