The Cross River State governor, Bassey Otu, says he will ensure the state reaps the reward of a thriving democracy.
Governor Otu, who made this known in a statement to mark this year’s Democracy Day, promised to foster an environment in the state where the citizens can freely express themselves.
“Democracy Day provides an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s democratic journey and renew our dedication to its core principles.
“As Governor of Cross River State, I am committed to ensuring that our state not only upholds these principles but also reaps the rewards that a thriving democracy can provide for its citizens.
“My administration is dedicated to fostering an environment where citizens can freely express themselves, where transparency and accountability are paramount, and where governance is inclusive and responsive to the needs of all,” Governor Otu affirmed.
He highlighted the importance of citizen participation, accountability, and inclusive governance and called on them to actively participate in upholding democratic norms by engaging in civic duties, holding leaders accountable, and promoting peaceful dialogue.
The governor also reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to upholding the tenets of democracy and delivering tangible benefits to the people of Cross River State.
He extended his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, and Senate President Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, on this significant occasion.
