The 25th anniversary of Nigeria’s democracy is being marked today with ceremonies at Eagle Square in Abuja, drawing hundreds of Nigerians from across the country.

Despite the Federal Government’s declaration of a public holiday, attendees have gathered in their finest attire to commemorate the restoration of democracy in 1999.

The event has been set in motion with troops from the Guards Brigade, Nigerian Navy, Air Force, and Nigerian Police forming up to provide a military parade and entertain dignitaries, including members of the diplomatic corps.
