De Genius Olivet College, Tigbo, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, has emerged as the overall winner in the senior category of the Ogun State Science Exhibition for the third year in a row.

The competition, organised by the state chapter of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN), drew participation from over 180 secondary schools.

The school’s winning entry, titled, The Automatic Hand-Driven Plough, Planter and Herbicide Spraying Machine, is a locally developed innovation that integrates automation with manual operation to enhance crop planting and herbicide application.

Judges lauded the project for its practicality and potential to transform farming practices among peasant farmers, especially if adopted by government and manufacturing stakeholders. The college will represent the state at the National Science Exhibition Finals in August.

In 2024, the school not only won the competition but also secured the national title at the finals in Abuja. Ahmed Omisore praised the students and their teachers for their innovation, dedication and consistency:
